From Capetown to Chicago, from Europe to North America, the Journal for Preachers brings together world renown theologians and dynamic preachers from many denominations and backgrounds to offer you reflective and practical articles that contribute to effective preaching.

What is Journal for Preachers?

For more than 40 years, the Journal for Preachers has been an invaluable resource for preachers across North America and around the world!

We believe that you are among those ministers who want their sermons to reflect responsible biblical study and careful social analysis. Designed to be a resource for such preaching, JP includes articles and sermons by some of the best scholars and preachers in the country.

Journal for Preachers is published quarterly in time for Advent, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. Journal for Preachers is for preachers who want sermon material that is both thoughtful and useful. Each issue contains provocative articles on theological reflections, cultural issues, liturgical seasons, and social concerns — essays that feed preaching that is profound and challenging. Journal for Preachers engages in a lively discussion of the issues that matter the most in preaching.

“At the center of the church’s current crisis is the crisis of preaching. Journal for Preachers is an important resource and a faithful way of participating in that crisis in the service of the church.” — Walter Brueggemann

“Reading Journal for Preachers is like talking with wise colleagues about how and why we do what we do.” – Barbara Brown Taylor
